In French, the possessive adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun which follows.
For example:
“his brother” & “her brother” would both be: son frère
“his sister” & “her sister” would both be: sa sœur
One common exception to the formation rules listed below is that the forms mon, ton, and son will be used before feminine nouns that begin with a vowel or a mute ‘h’.
